A craft beer candle

A craft beer candle

Hopsquad in Austin just released a brand new beer, the "Community Pilsner". To highlight the ingredients in the beer, we crafted a special candle. Pre-orders launch today for nationwide delivery or pickup at the brewery on North Burnet. Order here - https://www.flavorscreative.com/

Before diving into this project, I want to give a big shout out to Tay at Flavors Creative Group, who was the driving force behind this collaboration. He pulled us in and we had a lot of fun with it.

Our approach to this project was to understand the beer-making process and highlight the raw ingredients that make this beer special.

A lot goes into beer. If you were going to brew some start to finish, this is a general idea of the steps involved: first, you need to pick some barley from the fields. Toast your barley, mash it, and steep it in hot water. Now you have a barley tea which wouldn't taste all that great. Add hops and spices to cut the sweetness and develop the flavor. Strain the solids. Let it ferment with yeast. Weeks, months, or years later, you end up with a beer. (pretty good explanation for a non-brewer pleb, right?)

Fresh hops have a beautiful aroma - citrusy, floral, fruity, herby. We sourced fresh buds from a farm in Peotone, Illinois. And then mixed in malted barley which brings a toasty and mellow aroma. Oils of frankincense, black pepper, and sandalwood balance the overall fragrance.

All in all, this is a great candle. It honors the raw ingredients and speaks to the special work that they are doing at Hopsquad. It's perfect for anyone who appreciates craft beer or good smells.
